Hiking on the Seoul Trail

Olympic Bridge, Lotte World Tower and Seoul’s ubiquitous apartments.

The Seoul Trail is a 157km trail combining mountain hiking and urban streets running a circular route around Seoul. Officially opened in November 2014, the course is split into 8 sections with each route clearly marked on the ground on city streets, and with strategically placed signposts and ribbons throughout. Course 2, running from Hwarangdae Station to Gwangnaru Station, or vice versa, offers stunning vistas of the city whilst taking in the peaks of two mountains, Mt. Achasan and Mt. Yongmasan, as well as Mangwoori Cemetery and other smaller archeological sites.

Accessible from:

Hwarangdae Station (Line 6), Exit 1, or 4.

Gwangnaru Station (Line 5), Exit 1.

Seoul: 3K Walk for Peace

Gwanghwamun Gate, marking the end of the walk, is the grand entrance to Gyeongbokgung Palace.

Rotary International, an organization which aims to bring together business and professional leaders in order to provide humanitarian services, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and to advance goodwill and peace around the world is holding their annual conference in Korea inviting members from around the world to participate. Part of the program of events held was a 3k walk for peace, with participants walking the historic city streets between Seoul plaza and Gwanghwamun Square with attendees encouraged to wear traditional attire from their own countries. The event, held on a glorious summer morning was certainly a colorful, lively affair, with a friendly, fun atmosphere shared between walkers and onlookers.

Yeouido: I Seoul U

The glistening, gold 63 City dominates the skyline at Yeouido.

Seoul’s giant Hollywood-esque I Seoul U sign is now in the very photographic location of Yeouido’s Hangang (River) park. Located centrally in the park the I Seoul U sign is already becoming a popular place for both tourists and Seoulites to pose for fun photos while passing the site. Visitors to the park can enjoy relaxing with friends or make use of the Yeouido Hangang (River) Park’s extensive leisure facilities, as well as the nearby 63 City, IFC Mall, Yeouido Park, and strolling through this business district, known locally as the Manhattan of Seoul.

Accessible from:

Yeouinaru Station (Seoul Subway Line 5), Exit 2, or 3
